Volunteers in the Victim Services Program will serve as allies to crime victims as they navigate through the court system.
|09/02/2011||Sheriff looks to community policing to enhance law enforcement||Debra Mayeux, Tri-City Tribune||When Ken Christesen ran for the office of San Juan County Sheriff, he promised to create partnerships between his office and the community it serves.
Less than one year later, 17 programs have been developed as part of the Volunteer’s in Partnership Program, allowing for community policing within the sheriff’s office.
|12/17/2011||Local law enforcement shops with 75 children||Kurt Madar, Farmington Daily Times||This year's shop with cops was organized by the new Sheriff's Office Foundation and funded by donations from individuals and businesses across the community.
Shop with cops started in 2002, but this is the first year the foundation has taken part. Despite beginning its fundraising efforts only two months ago, it managed to raise $8,000.
